The importance of buying local…

Today we heard the sad news that the recession has been playing silly beggers with our beloved Fancie – what Amanda has created over the past few years with Fancie is a Sheffield institution and this news only emphasises the fact that we should support our local shops and buy local.

Having kept an eye on Twitter today, the support for Sheffield’s favourite cupcake shop, turned cafe and bakery, hasn’t wavered. Everyone has come out to wish Fancie and the team well – having created so many jobs and instilled so much pride in our foodie routes, we can’t let a messed up economy get in the way of good cake. We simply mustn’t let it happen. So, if you’re in town and feeling in the mood for a sweet snack… Skip past the likes of Tesco and Sainsburys and treat yourself to a delicious cupcake. Infact, if you don’t do anything else this weekend… Pop in for a cuppa. I’m sure the team will appreciate the support!

It’s time likes these we need to support our local independents and, let’s face it… Sheffield just wouldn’t be the same without Fancie – so lets go eat cake!

Until tomorrow
