When it comes to Christmas dinner I don’t really get much of a say in what we eat, which is a good job really. Dan’s mum prepares a delicious table full of farm-style cooked traditional wonders and we dig in. That said I always ALWAYS eat around the turkey. It may be a tradition but I really don’t like it and find it tough, stringy and weird. My mum cooked one every year and I hated it, which was unlucky for me as the two of us ate the left overs until it was gone. It’s my least favourite meat.
So what would I have? This maybe controversial but if I was cooking Christmas dinner I would make everyone swap turkey for duck. It’s a delicious and succulent meat that tastes wonderful with fruits and it’s a real treat worthy of centre table. I like beef but you can have that anytime of the year. Duck seems like the right way to go – maybe I can convince Dans mum. Failing that I may make and take along a nut roast, we’ll see.
What will be taking centre stage on your Christmas table this year?
