Last night myself and Dan tuned in to BBC1 for an enchanting new food show – call it a #GBBO replacement. We all know I’m a huge Nigel Slater fan, I think he’s sweet, passionate and realistic about what the normal UK householder can achieve with food. What you may not know is that I’m partial to a little Countryfile too – in which Adam Henson plays in crucial role in talking about some of the issues UK farmers and food producers currently face. In short – I think they’re both brilliant and I think it’s great to see them doing a show together.
Farm Kitchen (BBC1, 8pm, Wednesday nights) takes a little of Nigel Slater’s rustic approach to home cooking and teams it up with Adam Henson’s informative musings on farming for a truly lovely show. In last night’s episode they not only went on a two an mission to educate the streets of Britain on cuts of beef before sharing a recipe for a simple beef Sunday roast. They made fresh pasta using durum wheat grown in the UK…. and with this, they then took on supermarket lasagnes and made 30 of their own for less than £1 a portion.
Missed it? Last night was just the start of the series. You should tune in!
