Tonight is my night. I worked for a few hours last night, and I’m up early tomorrow as we’re heading off to that-there-London. I’m shattered – we had a busy weekend with our anniversary and what not and I need rest. More than rest, I need wine. Need being the word of choice. I don’t just want it… That sip of red wine is something I deserve. Lucky for me I have some Elderberry Wine from Demijohn to review – I’ll get this to you tomorrow. Now, I want to talk about my love of lazy week night evenings.
You must know the feeling… Long day at work, tension all up your shoulders… The horrendous commute home and the challenge of dragging your heavy bag up the hill stands between you and your bed. Ok, tad dramatic but you get how I’m feeling right now?
I’m on a late, previously broken down bus on my way into Sheffield. I have another bus to catch, then a short walk up the hill and I’m home. I’ll no doubt strip off, shower and wear the comfiest thing I can find… And my dressing gown. I’ll pour that glass of wine, make some comfort food and park myself on the bed in our room. I’ll make sure the fairy lights (or princess lights as we call them) are on and stuff my face whilst proofing and publishing this post. Then I’ll paint my nails, watch some moderately funny comedy panel shows/stand up comedians and fall asleep… Whilst attempting to avoid duvet prints on my nails. No one likes duvet nails.
Whilst this sounds dull, right now the feeling of a hot shower and my bed is the most amazing ideal. Sitting and doing nothing is hard for someone like me – but tonight it’s all I want to do. Having a glass of wine makes me feel like I have permission to relax, not that I’m a big school-night drinker mind, but it frames the evening… And makes a horrible commute feel that bit better.
Oh and I’ll paint my nails with Chanel to make my lazy night special.
