In my opinion, birthday breakfasts should be an extreme of sweet or savoury. Either eggs and bacon served with lashings of cheese or butter sauce… or something filled with chocolate and sugar. I went for the latter and made Dan a stack of pancakes, half plain and half chocolate, using my own American pancake recipe and adding a heaped spoon of cocoa powder to half of the mixture. I served them with alternating layers – one with sour cherry preserve and the other, melted chocolate and soured cream with banana. To top it off I poured over the rest of our chocolate.
It was AMAZING! I’ve also made a layered chocolate cake with chocolate ganache, cream cheese icing and raspberries – I’ll share the recipe with you soon.
