It really is like Julia Child is in the room with you…

Last night I started reading the book, which inspired the blog, that inspired the film that inspired my blog. Julia Childs Mastering The Art of French cooking inspired a whole host of events that lead to film Julie and Julia. I watched this on New Years Eve 2012 and started this blog the next day.

Merly Streep played her so well – I’ve watched her on cookery shows via YouTube since and she’s truly magical to watch. Even in the introduction to her book, it’s like she’s in the room… there’s a certain magic and character to her words. EVERY line in the foreward makes me smile as I can feel her passion for food and cookery.

“This is a book for the servantless cook who can be unconcerned on occasion with budgets, waistlines  timetables, children’s meals, or anything else which might interfere with the enjoyment of producing something wonderful to eat.”

She goes on to say,

“The most important ingredient you can bring to it is love of cooking for its own sake…”

Even as I type it, I can hear her voice, character and passion.

I can’t wait to try out some of her recipes at a dinner party or two.

What’s your favourite Julia Child recipe?

Until tomorrow
