Bakewell Baking Festival [pictures]

On the spur of the moment, me and Dan went to Bakewell Baking Festival today. We’d seen signs on the way to Dan’s parents yesterday and thought it would be a good shout – although we didn’t buy a wrist band for the demonstrations, there will still plenty of interesting food stalls to have a look round – and some equally interesting local food producers to chat to.

This is the first ever Baking festival to be held in Bakewell – home to the Bakewell tart, and dubbed the ‘spiritual home of baking’. If we’d have paid for tickets we would have gained access to demonstrations from top/celebrity bakers – that said, the town was buzzing with stalls and the shops opened their doors to festival goers. It was a really lovely day – and to top it all off, the sun came out… we couldn’t have had a better day. Here’s some pictures:

It’s safe to say that Bakewell’s Baking Festival was a real success – see you at the next one?
