When I like people, I bake for them. It’s my way of saying ‘you’re really nice’ without actually having to say it… because – well, we’re British and it’s not the ‘done’ thing really. My friends know how much I love them… but just to be sure – I share my baked treats with them and make them birthday cakes. Like the one above.
Today is Fera’s birthday. Both Fera and her husband Rich are some of our closest friends… so it was only right that I would help her celebrate her day of birth with a cake, fit for a fabulous friend! She loved my lemon drizzle cake – so I used this as the base, and went for a cream cheese frosting with hundreds and thousands (or tens and millions as I like to call them) glitter sugar and bunting… which I made myself (I’ll blog about how to make this soon, it’s really easy).
Great friends deserve great cake. So, if you have a friend and their birthday is coming up, skip the present and bake a thoughtful cake. If your friend is having a bad time and is in need of cheering up… bake them a [chocolate] cake. If you’re friend has been totally amazing and you want to say thank you… bake them a cake. Even if it tastes dry, or goes a bit wrong… who cares, it’s the thought behind a cake that’s really important!
