I don’t visit home very much, maybe once every two months. It’s a two hour journey, often hampered by weekend traffic, and we’re too busy at the moment – we struggle fitting everyone in. I wish we could visit more.
My family set up is far from traditional. We usually head back to see my two sisters, my brother-in-law and his new wife and all of their children, plus my newly discovered grandparents. Each visit we make is a flying visit, we head from one house to the next in a bid to fit everyone in before it gets dark. Everywhere we go we’re greeted with cups of tea, drinks and food. An odd mixture of veggies and meat-eaters, we’re welcomed with different dishes every time.
After tea with my grandma, we had more tea and a veggie spagbol with my middle sister. This was followed by more tea with my brother-in-law and A visit to my eldest sisters for, you guessed it – more tea and a much needed catch up. I’m a full up with tea and good food – it’s a whirlwind when we’re back home.
No matter how crazy our visits may be, or who’s house we end up at. We can always rely on the fact the we’ll eat good food with a great family – it may be mad, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
