I’m not going to lie, WasabiSabi’s birthday bash is always a highlight on my annual event calendar. This is the third year I’ve been invited down for a good old knees-up and I thoroughly enjoy it. It’s always a good opportunity to catch up with some old faces and I had the pleasure of meeting and catching up with some of Sheffield’s established food bloggers. 

We we’re welcomed with a drink of red wine and mingled in the restaurant area, while staff brought out canopes of chicken, sushi and tempura vegetables. We managed to find a good spot with plenty of food going past. I have to say that my favourite canope was the chicken and pepper skewers (with what I think as teriyaki sauce) – the chicken was so tender and melted in the mouth. Yum!

We then moved into the teppanyaki part of the restaurant and huddled around two service/display/table areas to watch two highly skilled chefs put on a display of culinary excellence, physically back-to-back. They served up some prawns (my favourite), chicken in an amazing sauce and some flame grilled beef.

35509_10152554436205024_1765167715_nWe tucked into the tasters with cocktail sticks and passed plate back to make sure everyone got to try some food. If you’ve never had teppanyaki before and live in Sheffield, I couldn’t recommend this place more. The chefs put on a real show and even had people catching food in their mouth from the crowd – luckily I wasn’t singled out to have a go (phew).
